Single-Delegation General Assembly (GA)

Topic A: Yemen in Crisis — War, Hunger, and the Fight for Peace

Yemen has been engulfed in a brutal civil war since 2014, primarily between Houthi rebels and the internationally recognized government, backed by a Saudi-led coalition. The conflict has created one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, with millions facing famine and limited access to clean water, healthcare, and shelter. Repeated airstrikes, blockades, and ground fighting have devastated the country’s infrastructure. Despite recent efforts toward peace talks, clashes and political tensions continue. Children and civilians bear the brunt of the suffering, with many displaced from their homes. The path to lasting peace remains uncertain amid deep-rooted divisions and foreign involvement.

Topic B: Restoring Order in Haiti

In 2018, Haiti became mired in political deadlock as rival factions struggled for control, leading to a significant deterioration of public services. The government’s inability to secure funding allowed gangs to take on roles traditionally held by the state, controlling resources and services. By 2024, this instability culminated in the collapse of the federal government, the abdication of the president, and the destruction of Haiti’s judicial system, sparking violent gang wars. Delegates will discuss strategies for reinstating order, rebuilding the government, and restoring critical services. Topics may include governance reform, strengthening rule of law, and addressing the influence of criminal organizations.
